Itinerary Summary
Day 1. Transfer Nyungwe Forest National Park.
Wake up and immerse yourself in the authentic African ambiance of Rwanda. After breakfast, embark on a road trip of approximately 5 hours to Nyungwe Forest Park. Along the way, you will encounter the fascinating countryside, showcasing the lifestyle of the Rwandan people, their plantations, and the picturesque hills surrounding the park.
You will make a stop at a local market and the cultural museum to experience and appreciate Rwanda’s rich traditional stories. Enjoy lunch during the journey before continuing to Nyungwe Forest Park. Finally, upon arrival unwind at your hotel and absorb the feel of nature that surrounds you as you rest for the evening at Nyuguwe House lodge
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk.
It’s a beautiful morning, and you’re all geared up for the day! Have an early breakfast before heading to the park for the trek. These hills offer the ideal natural habitat for primates, including chimpanzees and monkeys, which you’ll encounter during the trek. Their playful nature, as they jump from tree to tree, adds to the unique experience. You’ll spend about 1 hour observing these fascinating creatures before returning to your hotel.
In the afternoon, enjoy a canopy walk to discover more of what the forest has to offer. Return to the lodge and spend the rest of the evening at your leisure as you refresh and unwind. Accommodation: Nyuguwe House lodge
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After a relaxing night, wake up early and enjoy breakfast before setting off for Volcanoes National Park, located in the northern part of Rwanda. Along the way, take part in a coffee tour to learn more about Rwanda’s coffee culture. Arrive in the evening, check in at your hotel, and unwind. End the day with a delightful dinner and rest for the evening. Accommodation: Mountain Gorilla view lodge.
Day 4: Mountain Gorillas trekking.
Wake up in the morning and enjoy a lovely breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. The trek takes about 6–7 hours, depending on the gorilla family you are assigned to, which can vary based on factors such as age and feeding habits. Once you locate the gorillas, you will have about 1 hour to spend with them. Take this opportunity to capture different photos and ask the rangers as many questions as you wish.
Afterward, return to your hotel and relax for the evening. Accommodation: Mountain Gorilla view lodge.
Day 5: Golden Monkey & Transfer to Akagera National Park
After enjoying a lovely breakfast, heading out for golden monkey tracking. This activity is as physically demanding as gorilla trekking. Capture some memorable photos as these playful primates dart around energetically.
Afterward, transfer to Akagera National Park, stopping for lunch along the way. Arrive at the lodge in the evening, check in, and relax for the rest of the day. Accommodation: Akagera safari Camp.
Day 6: Game Drive and boat Ride.
After breakfast, head out for a game drive in Akagera National Park. Keep an eye out for elephants, various big cats, buffalos, and other incredible wildlife.
In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride on Lake Ihema to explore the park from a different perspective. Conclude the day by retiring to your lodge and relaxing. Accommodation: Akagera safari Camp.
Day 7: Drive to Kigali and Airport
Wake up at your leisure and enjoy breakfast before beginning the drive to Kigali City. Have lunch en route, then visit the Genocide Memorial Museum to learn about Rwanda’s history. Explore local markets and take the opportunity for some souvenir shopping. Finally, transfer to the airport to conclude your journey.
