Once hunters and gatherers, they became subsistence farmers after losing access to traditional lands, growing crops like sorghum and millet. Their language, Icetot, part of the endangered Kuliak family, preserves oral traditions central to their identity. Despite hardships and outside portrayals, the Ik remain resilient, maintaining strong clan ties and cultural richness in one of Uganda’s most remote regions.
