About This Destination

Volcanoes National Park is Rwanda's premier destination for mountain gorilla trekking. Located in the Virunga Mountains in northwestern Rwanda, the park protects five of the eight Virunga volcanoes. It was the base for Dian Fossey's groundbreaking gorilla research and is home to about one-third of the world's mountain gorillas. The park also offers golden monkey tracking, volcano hiking to the summit of Mount Bisoke, and visits to Dian Fossey's former research camp.
